Although employed as a government magistrate\, Srila Bhaktivinoda worked tirelessly to establish the teachings of Lord Caitanya in India\, where\, unfortunately\, the people had come to neglect the principles of devotional service to the Supreme Lord\, Krishna. He envisioned a worldwide Krishna consciousness movement and prayed to the Lord for a son to to help him achieve his dream. Eventually\, a son was born to Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and he was named Bimala Prasad who later on came to be known as Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur became the spiritual master of Srila Prabhupada (Founder Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness – ISKCON). DESCRIPTION:Sri Krishna Janmashtami marks the appearance day of Lord Krishna. It is celebrated in great pomp at Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir\, Bon Accueil and at all ISKCON Centers around Mauritius.  \nThe celebrations start as early as 4.30 a.m with Mangal Arati. Darshan doors close at 5 a.m. Then at 7.30 a.m\, a grand Darshan of Their Lordships Sri Sri Krishna Balaram\, is given to all present. The altar is splendidly decorated with flowers and Sri Sri Krishna Balaram look oustanding in Their new outfits bedecked with jewels. \nThe Altar doors remain open all day for Darshan on Janmashtami. SUMMARY:Lord Balarama Appearance Day
DESCRIPTION:The auspicious appearance day of Lord Balarama\, the elder brother of Lord Krishna\, is celebrated on the full-moon day of Sravana month (August). Lord Balarama appeared as the son of Rohini and Vasudeva. He is also known as Baladeva and Sankarsana. He gives us the required spiritual strength to cross over the hurdles in our journey of self-realization. Devotees fast till noon and pray to Lord Balarama to bestow the spiritual strength needed to practice spiritual life. \nIn Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Temple – Bon Accueil\, there are grand celebrations to mark this auspicious day. Sri Sri Krishna Balaram are adorned with exquisite clothing and ornaments in a grand ensemble of lovely flower arrangements. \nThe celebrations start at 11 a.m and end at around 3.30 p.m with full Prasad served to everyone. \n\nAt 11 a.m\, Lord Balarama receives a splendid abhisheka in His form of Giriraj – He is bathed with panchamrita (milk\, yoghurt\, ghee\, honey\, and water). Varieties of flowers are showered\, concluding the abhisheka ceremony\nAbhishek is followed by Kirtan till 12.30 p.m\nRaj Bhoga Arati at 12.30 p.m\nAt 1 p.m\, lectures will be given where the pastimes of Lord Balaram are beautifully described\nAt 2 p.m\, Kirtan will start and will continue till 3.30 p.m\nPrasad is then served to everyone at 3.30 p.m\nAltar doors remain open till 4.30 p.m\nAt 4.30 p.m\, altar doors are closed and re-open at 6.30 p.m for Sandhya Arati – Sri Sri Krishna Balaram wear a second new outfit\nSweets (maha prasad) and Varuni juice are served to everyone at 7 p.m\nKirtan follows\nAltar doors remain open till 8.45 p.m\n\nPlease join us to seek the blessings of Lord Balarama\, for strength to overcome all challenges in our spiritual life!
